The Castle at Kingston construction began in early 2020 and was completed in early 2025. It was designed by Randy McGovern with the help of his son Ryan McGovern. The construction was very difficult due to a variety of factors but especially due to the highly customized nature of Castle, many of the tasks in the building process were done by the owner himself and/or his son. Some of these tasks included:
-Building the front door from scratch using planks of wood.
Installing bathroom marble floor and marble shower
Installing the travertine backsplash
-Installing all of the slate stone floors
Installing the slate stone in the two spiral staircases and the railings
-The marble fireplace hearth, marble above the mantel and the marble flooring inside the bathroom.
-Randy McGovern, who is also a well known wildlife artist, painted every single painting that is hanging in the castle, from the animals to the stained glass images in the spiral staircase.
Painting all the doors, windows, walls, trim, gussets, drawbridge, beams and fascia boards.
Staining all the window sills, bunk beds, book shelves, draw bridge and wood beams on the ceiling.
Installing all of the insulation inside the walls and ceiling.
- Applyin epoxy resin, gravel and polyurethane on all the roof top terrace levels.
Installing all of the door locks.
Moving and assembling all furniture
-The treasure chest was built from scratch using planks of wood.
-Creating treasure hunt, videos, website and the castle coat of arms.
-Installing the flag stone patio surrounding the castle.
The moat was built by hand.
-The concrete driveway was mixed and poured by hand.
All of the outdoor landscaping.
-Installing all of the stone on the inside of the crenelated walls.
-Installing the stone on the wishing well.
Creating the wall banners
Building the throne platform
Installing the white iron railing in the master bedroom
Installing the hot tub using ramps, ropes and pulleys.
Plumbing repairs.
Installing washer and dryer
Installing all the TVs
Installing cabinet door and drawer handles
Installing the sauna heater
Installing the Starlink satellite dish and Wifi extenders
Installing all the hog wire railing
Installing all the outdoor lighting
Installing a dozen shelves

Many of the items in the castle had to be custom built overseas and then shipped to the job site for installation. Some of the custom pieces were the art glass windows, the stained glass dome, the carved marble mantel, and much of the lighting.
The Castle was built from the ground up specifically with our guests in mind. The treasure hunt was designed to resemble the same escape room style treasure hunt that was so popular at the owners' first Airbnb tree house, which was sadly shutdown by the city. The inspiration for many of the features came from popular movies and media that have depicted castles of all time periods. It is our hope that each guest will fall in love with the childlike wonder that accompanies an experience as unique as this one. We wanted it to have the charm of the old world, while still being equipped with modern luxuries and conveniences. We built this for every little girl that pretended to be a princess growing up, for every little boy who dreamed of finding lost treasure and every couple who longed to see the castles of Europe without having to fly across the Atlantic Ocean.
The Castle at Kingston has been anointed and set apart for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ. We pray that every visitor is specially blessed by God with overflowing peace, joy and love.
